Rift ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Account information: email address and username when you register.
Location: your approximate location when the app is in use, to match you with nearby requests. We do not collect location in the background.
Photos and videos: media you capture and submit to fulfill requests. This content is stored securely and associated with your account.
Push notification token: to deliver request notifications to your device.
Usage data: standard server logs (IP address, timestamps, API calls) for security and debugging.

How We Use Your Information

To operate the Rift service — matching requests to nearby users and delivering fulfilled media.
To send push notifications about requests near you.
To calculate karma scores based on your activity.
To maintain security and prevent abuse.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as necessary to operate the service:

Cloudflare R2: media files (photos/videos) are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure.
Expo: push notification tokens are processed through Expo's push notification service.
Railway: our backend infrastructure provider.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users.

Media Content

Photos and videos you submit to fulfill requests are visible to the user who created the request. By submitting media, you grant Rift a license to store and display that content within the app.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Fulfilled media is retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. Expired requests and associated data may be purged periodically.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. To delete your account and associated data, email us at the address below.

Children

Rift is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Rift after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
